We are seeking Wellness Coaches to mentor, support, and resources on school sites. This role is responsible for identifying/assessing needs, facilitating and coordinating individual or group pre-clinical support, and documenting youth services data.
Part Time: Paid Peer Worker Intern
No professional experience required
Must be 18 or older
The Peer Worker Intern is a paid, earn-and-learn position in SYC’s Mentored Internship Program for Mental and Behavioral Health (MIP). Over 16 weeks at 20 paid hours per week, interns provide supervised peer support, youth group facilitation, care navigation, and outreach at SYC and partner school sites while completing Youth Mental Health First Aid and weekly development modules. Interns also help administer SYC’s Peer Mentor Training for the students selected each cycle.
Interns who qualify continue to an 80-hour Peer Specialist Training to prepare for State of California Peer Specialist Certification. Interns are supervised by Peer Specialists, supported by Case Managers, and coordinated by the MIP Project Manager, with a goal of employment or advanced training within six months of completing the internship
